Exhibition Opening: Near & Far: Yearning / Community / Connection

The official opening for our latest exhibition will be held on Sunday 9th September, 2018, from 2pm.

Near & Far: Yearning / Community / Connection is the next installment of Western Riverina Art’s program ‘Activating Narrandera Arts’ to be held at the Narrandera Arts and Community Centre from the 9th to the 23rd September.

Western Sydney-based curator Ebony Secombe has been working with artists from her own community to create this exhibition, and Near & Far: Yearning / Community / Connection will provide a sampler of work by artists from diverse practices and backgrounds across Western Sydney. Artists such as Linda Brescia, Hedar Abbas Abadi and Shivanjani Lal reflect on personal experiences in regards to what it means for them to exist within and on the peripherals of communities in Western Sydney through the selection and presentation of new and old works.

"I’m really looking forward to bringing this work to the audiences of Narrandera and surrounds,“ said Secombe. “Western Sydney has a really vibrant and unique arts scene and I’m interested in opening up a dialogue with between my community and that of regional NSW.”

The exhibition will be open from Monday 10th September to Sunday 23rdth September, daily from 10am - 4pm.

The official opening will be held Thursday 19th July from 6:30pm. Light refreshments will be available. Free entry but donations are welcome.
