Create NSW seeks creatives for Talent Camp
Create NSW is calling on emerging content creators and storytellers from diverse backgrounds across the state to apply for up to 15 places at the NSW State TALENT CAMP, a new program in partnership with the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) and Screen Australia.
Responding to audience demand for rich and engaging stories and the industry’s concern about the lack of diversity in the Australian screen sector,TALENT CAMP provides an opportunity for new talent, new perspectives and new voices that reflect the richness and depth of contemporary Australian society.
The week-long TALENT CAMP will focus on story development, screen producing and career pathways, and will be held in Sydney between 18th – 22nd September 2017 by industry experts including renowned producer Kath Shelper (Black Comedy, Samson & Delilah, Ruben Guthrie) and story developer Brita McVeigh.
Create NSW CEO Michael Brealey says that TALENT CAMP will provide a unique opportunity for under-represented groups in the screen industry to learn more about screen craft from renowned professionals, no matter what form their creative work takes on.
“From theatre to podcasting, photography to YouTube content creation, contemporary storytelling can capture an audience’s attention through a range of means, but it’s essential that our Australian industry is one that is as inclusive as possible and offers opportunities and career pathways for people from all backgrounds.
“Through this partnership with AFTRS and Screen Australia we are committed to joining the other states to find, nurture and propel diverse emerging talent to improve Australia’s screen industry across the country as well as across the wider international industry and audience,” said Mr Brealey.
Funding will be available to assist successful NSW participants to participate in the workshop, with support for travel, accommodation and other access requirements.
