Hunter Writers Centre invites you to enter their two not-for-profit writing competitions both closing in June. There is a $30,000 total prize pool plus the opportunity to be published.
2017 Newcastle Poetry Prize
The 2017 Newcastle Poetry Prize is now open with a prize pool of over $22,000. The poetry prize has an open theme Submit a poem up to 200 lines with an open theme. 30+ finalists will be published in the 2017 anthology, The competition closes 8pm EST, Friday 30th June, 2017
Sponsored by the University of Newcastle, the following prizes will be awarded
Saturday, 14th October in Newcastle
- First prize: $15 000
- Second prize: $5 000
- Third prize: $1 000
- Commended Awards:
$250 Local Award
$ 500 Harri Jones Memorial Prize (for a poet <35 years)
$250 Hunter Writers Centre members' award

2017 Grieve Writing Competition
In honour of Grief Awareness month (August) submit a 500 word story or a poem up to 36 lines. Over 150 works will be published in the 2017 anthology. Over $7000 in prizes are waiting and the competition closes 8pm, Friday 9th June 2017.
