Art Workshops @ Griffith Regional Art Gallery

The Flower Power Workshop at the Griffith Regional Art Gallery will cover the use of complementary colour and working in an expressionist style as well as paint application including impasto and the use of a palette knife. Please bring your own canvas / Brushes and paint will be supplied.

Printing from Memory
Using photographic images and text you’ll create maps of memory and collaged images onto fabric, paper, timber and other surfaces, using an old photographic technique ‘the original blue print’ with the help of the sun.

You will also explore a further selection of simple image transfer techniques to incorporate into fibre works, drawings, paintings and collages.

Weaving Stories Workshop
Twined and coiled basketry is one of the oldest techniques known having been passed down from many generations of women weavers.

Firstly you will learn what material is suitable and how to forage for them in your local environment. You will also learn how to prepare and dye these materials using Eucalyptus leaves, bark etc. and will explore traditional stitches including the coiling technique.
