2023 ROR Residency
Western Riverina Arts and Rooms of Requirement (RoR Space) call for applicants for six-week artist residency.
Western Riverina Arts (WRA) and Rooms of Requirement (ROR Space) have partnered to offer a six-week residency during 2023 for one creative practitioner in Australia.
The residency is valued at $2,000 and will support an artist to work on their self-determined goals in a creative co-working space in the heart of Griffith NSW on Wiradjuri Country.
“This residency provides the time and space for one artist to focus entirely on their practice,” said Western Riverina Arts Executive Officer Aanya Whitehead. “This kind of support enables the artist to step away from the pressures and diversions of everyday life for a sizeable amount of time. Time to think, plan, create and execute. In any practice this is a very rare opportunity.”
Artists looking to establish their first public studio space or pop-up shop with walk-through traffic are strongly encouraged to apply. The recipient will be surrounded by like-minded creatives and have opportunities for collaboration.
ROR Space convenor Kristy-Lee Agresta says, “The ROR Space is purpose-built for creatives to work and exhibit alone or together – it is comfortable, connected and very well-appointed. The four to six-week artist residency welcomes and supports one artist in any discipline, from anywhere in Australia to bring their work into the heart of Griffith in the Western Riverina. We had a highly diverse array of applications for 2022 and are expecting many responses to this call out.”
All creative disciplines that can be undertaken in a small studio environment are eligible to apply. Applications close Sunday 2nd July 2023 for the residency commencing Monday 7th August 2023.
