Play with the Vampires @ Griffith Regional Theatre
Described by the UK Guardian as “seductive, genre-hopping creativity," and US Downbeat magazine as “worldly, talented”, the ARIA nominated world-roots-jazz quartet The Vampires bring their risk-taking improvisation, sophisticated compositions and an uncanny sense of dialogue to Griffith Regional Theatre.
The Vampires features four of Australia’s most awarded jazz instrumentalists. , including saxophonist Jeremy Rose, trumpeter Nick Garbett, bassist Alex Boneham and drummer Alex Masso. The band has released five albums and toured relentlessly around Australia, Europe and the UK.
As part of their national tour, they will be presenting a Jazz workshop at Griffith Regional Theatre. The performance workshop is aimed at music students or any musician. The Vampires will hand out sheet music that they have published to help students understand their music, and explain each section in a piece to get a deeper understanding of how the music works. They will talk about their background as a group, working as a band, composing and improvising, and take questions.
