'For Country, For Nation' now open
The Griffith Regional Art Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition of artworks and memorabilia recognising the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander service men and women during conflict.
When the First World War broke out, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples had few rights, poor living conditions, and were not allowed to enlist in the war effort. Despite this, many Indigenous people wanted, and did, serve in defence of Australia.
On loan from the Australian War Memorial the exhibition includes objects, photographs and commissioned artworks.
The exhibition is open now until Sunday 22nd July. 167 Banna Ave, Griffith.
