NAIDOC 2019 Poster Competition

NAIDOC 2019 Poster Competition

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are invited to submit artworks for the 2019 National NAIDOC Poster Competition. The winning artwork will collect a $10,000 cash prize and used as the 2019 National NAIDOC Poster. Have your artwork seen and celebrated Australia-wide as the centerpiece to NAIDOC Week 2019!

This competition is a chance for talented artists aged 13 years and older to be recognised across Australia in celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.

Your artwork must reflect this year’s National NAIDOC theme: Voice. Truth. Treaty. Let’s work together for a shared future.

The 2019 theme invites all Australians to walk with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a movement of the nation for a better future.

This theme acknowledges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have always wanted an enhanced role in decision-making in Australia’s democracy.

It also aims at highlighting our various First Nations’ desires for lasting and effective agreements such as Treaties- which cannot be achieved unless we have a shared, truthful understanding of the nature of the dispute, of the history, of how we got to where we stand.

Poster entries close 5:00pm AEDT, Monday 04 February 2019.

Image: The 2018 National NAIDOC Poster was designed by Cheryl Moggs, a Bigambul woman from Goondiwindi. Cheryl drew on the history, courage and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to educate others. The artwork (tarmunggie – Woman) has three overlaying images, connecting dreamtime, culture and knowledge.
