NightLights & BrightLights - Public Art Opportunity in Wagga

Every night, visitors to Wagga Wagga’s Wollundry Lagoon precinct are treated to a free showing of artistic content on one of the nation’s largest permanent projection surfaces.
 
After sundown each night, the 50 x 8m facade of the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre hosts a rotating program of commissioned projection art, which can be seen by park users and pedestrians on the Wollundry Lagoon bridge.

Expressions of Interest are now sought from digital projection artists who are interested producing new site-specific works and leading workshops for Wagga Wagga City Council.

NightLights (up to $20,000)

Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from leading Australian digital projection artists for a two week residency in Wagga Wagga.

During their residency, the successful artist will lead the NightLights Projection Lab, supporting up to ten emerging Riverina-based artists, over minimum of five days, to develop original digital artworks.

During their residency, the successful artist will produce a NightLights Commission, an original site-specific projection work. This work will be projected onto a 50 x 8m wall of the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre as part of the city’s annual public projection program.

During their residency, the successful artist will give a NightLights Talk, a public presentation of their work and process during the course of their time in Wagga Wagga.

A budget of $20,000 (excluding GST) has been allocated for the NightLights Commission, Projection Lab and the NightLights Talk. The successful applicant will factor all costs including artist fees, production of artwork, travel, accommodation and public liability into their proposal.

BrightLights (up to $10,000)

Wagga Wagga City Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from leading Australian digital projection artists for an exciting youth projection program, BrightLights.

The successful artist will lead a BrightLights Workshop, which is a three day projection workshop in Wagga Wagga with a group of up to twenty young people (aged 12-25) in the E3 arts space.

The successful artist will produce a BrightLights Commission, a projection work based on the ideas and concepts developed in the workshops. This work will be projected onto a 50 x 8m wall of the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre as part of the city’s annual public projection program.

The successful artist will give a BrightLights Talk, a presentation of their work and process during the course of their time in Wagga Wagga.

A budget of $10,000 (excluding GST) has been allocated to cover all aspects of the BrightLights Commission, Workshop and Talk. The budget must cover all costs including artist fees, production of artwork, travel, accommodation and public liability insurance.
