Push the Medium - Exhibition, Narrandera Arts Centre

'Push the Medium' is the 4th installment of Western Riverina Arts' initiative 'Activating Narrandera Arts', a 2 year program of exhibitions designed to utilise the Narrandera Arts and Community Centre for arts purposes. 

Sydney based artist and curator Alex Wisser will curate Push the Medium and is currently working with Sydney and Regional NSW based artists who are collaborating to produce work for this exhibition. The concept is to push the artists to explore and experiment with their medium and practice and push their art to another level. 

"Push the Medium is conceived of as an opportunity to engage artists from regional NSW and from Sydney in a single exhibition that explores exciting new potentials in art making today.  It is the kind of conversation that happens all the time in the city, where artists have a better access to experience other artists pushing boundaries and reconciling what art can be. I am more interested in bringing this conversation to Narrandera, in opening its audience to new potentials in art, than I am in making an exhibition of what I consider to be successful art." - Alex Wisser

The official opening of Push the Medium will be held on Sunday 4th February 2018 starting at 2pm at the Narrandera Arts Centre, 31 Cadell Street Narrandera. The exhibition will be open daily 10am - 4pm until Sunday 18th February. 

The exhibition opening will include a performance by contemporary performance artist Alan Schacher who will also be facilitating a workshop prior to the opening. This workshop is for artists of any medium and explores the concept of the role of the body in the production and presentation of art. To learn more about the workshop click here.
