Spirit of the Land Festival - Lockhart
The annual Spirit of the Land Festival is on again! The festival is a vibrant celebration of the land, held in Lockhart with an expected 6000 visitors over the two days; Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October.
The Spirit of the Land Festival includes farm art sculptures, fine art, photography, open gardens, unique shops, boutique stalls, fabulous food, live music, entertainment, free Leeton Lions train rides, helicopter rides, vintage vehicles, cycling events and children’s entertainment.
The highlight of the Festival is the National Farm Art Award, a fantastic outdoor sculpture exhibition and competition held along the banks of Brookong Lagoon. Discover masterpieces fashioned from recycled metal, rusty farm materials and elements of the land. With a prize of $10,000 for the overall winner, these unique sculptures are more than good, they are amazing!
The historical main street of Lockhart will host around 100 market stalls, with shops offering a range of specials over the weekend. Make it, Bake it, Grow it’, is just part of the fun to be had at the Festival. Taste and purchase regional produce, and on Saturday book on to our 'Paddock to Plate' Farm Tours for a first hand insight into food and farming.
Garden lovers will enjoy the town and country garden, and the Artisan Workshop area is guaranteed to draw a crowd, as does the children’s entertainment area. Saturday night’s entertainment includes relaxing music, a choice of foods and a fantastic fireworks display at dusk.
Free overflow parking for caravans is available, and there is plenty of available parking for those attending the Festival. Make a long weekend of it by visiting attending the Lockhart Picnic Races on Friday, 06th October. Gates open at 12pm on the day, with the first race at 1.30pm. Gate entry is $20 per person for non-members with special discounts for Race Members. Visit www.lockhartpicnicraces.com for full details.
