Book Launch 'The Only White Landscape' by Derek Motion

Local poet and WRA RADO Derek Motion is all set to launch his second full-length collection of poetry, The Only White Landscape, Saturday 4 March at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery.

The Only White Landscape has been published by Australian poetry imprint Cordite Books, presenting a series of poems that use the specific landscapes of regional NSW as lens to investigate personal change.

‘I’m really excited to see this book out in the world,’ says Derek Motion. ‘It’s my second collection and it’s particularly great this time to have been supported by Cordite Books, one of Australia’s most reputable publishers of contemporary poetry.’

Derek Motion now lives in Narrandera but grew up in Wagga where he studied creative writing at CSU, and formerly worked as Director of the Booranga Writers’ Centre.

‘I always wanted to launch the book in Wagga. My friends and family are still here, but I also want to acknowledge that this is where my writing life began – it was the university and the writers’ centre that really made me take my writing seriously’.

The Only White Landscape will be launched 2pm, Saturday 4th March at the Wagga Art Gallery. The book will be officially launched by Wagga poet and academic David Gilbey. Readings in Leeton will follow.
