Melbourne based no fuss 3 piece jazz band Origami will head up to Griffith for the first FirstFridayLife in 2017 on Friday 3rd Feb at The Yoogali Club's Green room.
Origami formed in 2010 and have toured nationally to promote their four acclaimed albums, The Blues of Joy, Karaoke (Nominated “BEST JAZZ ALBUM" 2013 The Age Music Victoria Awards), The Usefulness of Art and Billy Tea to Burgers. They have performed at The Village Festival, Wangaratta Jazz & Blues Festival, Mildura Jazz Food & Wine Festival, Eltham Jazz Festival and presented The Usefulness of Art for the inaugural Peter Blizzard Memorial Concert at the Festival of Slow Music.
Origami’s original material offers a twist on the classic jazz trio setting with a focus on Australian identity, and is augmented by songs by a diverse range of influences including Ornette Coleman, Colin Hay, Merle Haggard, Outkast, Sun Ra, Gotye and the occasional Australian folk song, blending melodic lyricism with a raw energy imbued with beauty, passion and fire.

First Friday Live is a fresh initiative backed by local individuals and businesses.
Its vision is to build a jazz culture, and awareness of jazz music in Griffith in the form of a regular live music performance to be held on the First Friday of every months with Australian and International musicians playing jazz, blues, soul and funk.
