Griffith Regional Theatre is gearing up to present their biggest, most ambition community musical yet. WICKED – the untold story of the Witches of Oz, coming to Griffith for a 10 day season in June 2017. And they want you to audition for it!

Griffith’s rendition of the world-favourite musical, by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman and based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, is set to wow Griffith in June next year for two weeks.

Director Don Hillam said after last year’s successful production of Beauty and the Beast he is looking forward to once again showcasing the many talents Griffith has to offer.

“Wicked is technically and vocally one of the hardest musical productions but beauty and the beast showed me there is plenty of hidden talent in Griffith and we are more than able to put on a good show,” Mr Hillam  said.

“I am looking forward to showcasing the talent of both the young and old, the auditions is an exciting time because you never who will walk through the door.”

Auditions will be held on the last two Sundays in November and the first Sunday in December, Mr Hilliam is looking for all kinds of talent from no experience to experienced and everyone in between.

“I am especially looking for men because men are always difficult to find for musicals so I encourage anyone from 16 to 60 to come audition,” he said.

The community production will have a cast and crew of just under 100 and will include a live band, lighting, magicians, flying apparatus and costumes and sets from Melbourne theatre company CLOC.

”Wicked is the biggest-selling show world-wide so we are lucky to get the rights to do our very on show, it’s going to be fantastic it’s going to big,” Mr Hilliam said.

Excited? Well then take your chance and live your dream!
