The festival program includes performances, exhibitions, workshops, films and cultural experiences across the Western Riverina. With many digital events on offer, everyone has the opportunity to learn about, experience, immerse and celebrate Wiradjuri Culture in all its forms. CASP: Country Arts Support Program Now Open
This round worth up to $3,000 for our region, is applicable to not for profit incorporated bodies, local government authorities or a collective with a nominated Funds Administrator and can be for projects such as workshops, performances, artist-in-residence programs, exhibitions and more. *To be eligible applicants must discuss their project with their relevant Regional Arts Development Organisation (Western Riverina Arts) before applying.

Yarruwala Wiradjuri Cultural Festival Media Launch
The program launch, held at Griffith Regional Art Gallery, and made available via livestream due to COVID restrictions, featured some of the most respected artistic and intellectual figures in Australian public life today, including Festival Artistic Director Kerry Johnson, respected Wiradjuri Elder Mrs Beverley Johnson, and internationally acclaimed journalist and author Mr Stan Grant Jnr.
The audience were treated to a powerful performance by the Burrundi Theatre for Performing Arts – a company founded by Festival Artistic Director Kerry Johnson in a unique model that sees cross-fertilisation between Griffith and Redfern in Sydney. The Media Launch Cast included an array of talent; Dancers Maci-Grace Johnson, Cody Cossum, Jonah Johnston/Caroll and Maddison Paluch, Singers Dwayne Broome and Rhimi Johnson-Page, Models Lowanna Grant and Lydia Johnson, Youth Performers Elania Nayden and Daneka Broome and Elders Beverley Johnson and William Ingram.

Jason Richardson: Soundscapes
Jason Richardson's Soundscapes is exhibiting at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, where "triggered upon entering the darkened space viewers are treated to a series of audiovisual snapshots and reimaginings of our regional locales." This exhibition runs until October 4.
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery Curator Drew Halyday describes Jason's work: "Jason Richardson works as some sort of ‘sonic archaeologist’, armed with contact microphones and the local landscape as his instrument, he samples the environments around him, from public playgrounds and farm machinery, to remote creek crossings and quiet bushland settings to compose playful ‘vignettes’ that reveal the hidden resonances of the Riverina region."

Art In Oils Evolution
Artist Dorothy Roddy is exhibiting her solo show Art In Oils Evolution at the new Leeton Museum and Gallery, featuring live painting demonstrations. The exhibition runs from October 19 through to November 27.

Inside Cinema vs Parallel Universe Exhibition
The exhibition is open from Friday 11 September until Sunday 18 October 2020. "Step inside and experience the fantastical world of movie characters, superheroes, timescapes, and the solar system. Become an audience member inside our cinema of the imagination and unexplained."
Over five weeks, 13 artists worked together to create new artworks in a pop-up supported studio at Griffith Regional Art Gallery. A supported studio is a place where learning-disabled artists can be ambitious, make their own decisions, collaborate, develop their skills and be supported to make excellent art.
This project is a partnership between the Cad Factory, Griffith Regional Art Gallery, Riverina Community College and Kalinda School.

One Night at Warangesda – Music Theatre and Site Tour
This event happens once during the festival. With limited spots available inline with COVID-19 protocols please ensure you secure your spot - this is an experience not to miss!
A music theatre performance held at the old mission site of Warangesda, situated on the banks of the great Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point. Created and directed by Artistic Director Kerry Johnson, produced by Burrundi Theatre for Performing Arts. This special music theatre performance takes the audience back in time tracing the story of Warangesda from 1880 and bringing it forward into living history where it remains significant to the many families throughout the Riverina who descend from this important place.
An Elders' seating area, an evening BBQ prepared with traditional ingredients and an on-site historical exhibition accompanies the performance.

Remembering Wattle Hill Projections

In his nineties, Wiradjuri Elder Clary Higgins relates his story growing up at The Sandhills in Narrandera and moving to Wattle Hill in Leeton as a young boy. This oral history project is told through pre-recorded sound recordings, film and photographs that are projected onto the water tower at Wattle Hill. Wiradjuri Sandhills BBQ Picnic Cultural Tours
This is a recurring event. Secure your spot for October 8 or October 9.
Join a cultural tour through Wiradjuri Country in Narrandera exploring Koori Beach and the bushland of the Murrumbidgee River. Learn about bushtucker and hear stories and songs with Wiradjuri Elder Michael Lyons of Sandhills Artefacts. A special tour to see scar trees, ring trees, canoe trees, caves, fibre and food plants, and enjoy a BBQ picnic featuring bushtucker ingredients like emu egg, wattle seed cakes and more. Learn the significance of Koori Beach in Narrandera, how it was recently renamed, and its importance to the Wiradjuri Nation for its traditional food and cultural heritage.

Thelma Afford Award $10,000 for Costume Professionals
The Thelma Afford Award for Costume Design in Stage and Screen was established to promote the further study of theatre, film or TV costume design.
One recipient will be chosen, and will receive $10,000 to spend how they wish. Entires close Friday 30th October 2020.
The recipient will use the award monies to further their education or training, in Australia or overseas, in visual arts, including the history of period clothes, at any art school or university that has a suitable course. Study may be full-time, part-time, at a summer school or as part of a formal mentorship program.

SALON: Pitch Your Idea At Artstate Wagga
SALON is an initiative to build relationships between NSW artists, producers and presenters: it is a small-scale, lo-fi conversation starter without the bells and whistles of a full-blown showcase. Artists/Producers may apply to present a short pitch up to 5 minutes about their work at the event. There are also facilitated networking opportunities and you will hear from selected venues about their programming streams.

Griffith City Library is running a competition for all primary students that reside or go to school in the Griffith City Council Region. Calling Young, Talented Regional Performing Arts Creatives
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for an exciting new regional youth performing arts program, Not a Dress Rehearsal. They're looking for young people aged 14-19 years with a performing arts talent they'd like to develop further, potentially realising a dream in the process. Orana Arts are partnering with Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) and Taikoz to offer online programming, industry networking and guidance, and later on, residential opportunities.
